José Manuel Velasco Guardado has a degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and has completed the Advanced Strategic Program at the Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Laussane (Switzerland). He is an executive and team coach.

He was the first Spanish and Latino to hold the presidency of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the world federation of associations of communicators and academic entities, of whose executive committee he continues to serve as the immediate past chair.

He began his professional career in Asturias as a journalist for the newspaper LA NUEVA ESPAÑA. Later, in Madrid, he directed the communication of the companies Renfe, Unión Fenosa and FCC, of whose management committees he was part. From 2008 to 2014 he chaired the Spanish Association of Communication Directors (Dircom).

He currently works as a communication consultant, coach and trainer. He specializes in training managers to improve their leadership through communication skills. He is a professor of political communication and spokesperson training at the Antonio Nebrija University and teaches classes in various master’s degrees and training modules at IESE, Complutense University, Camilo José Cela University and the International School of Communication, among others.

And he is a member of the Aberje Advisory Council, the most relevant professional association in Brazil in the field of communication.
